ASA California Tour 2011
Americans for Safe Access (ASA) is visiting cities all over California this month to train and mobilize the grassroots base of support for safe access to medical cannabis! We will be hosting Raid Preparedness Trainings and Stakeholders Meetings in eleven cities between August 19 and September 1, in hopes of getting members and allies active in the local, state, and federal campaign for safe access. These meetings are a great way for patients, providers, activists and others to plug in and make a difference! Be a part of this exciting statewide tour – and invite your friends and loved ones.

Executive Director Steph Sherer and California Director Don Duncan are touring California because the need for grassroots activism has never been greater. Cities and counties are adopting regulations, moratoria, and bans on patients’ associations and cultivation. Patients and providers routinely encounter resistance from law enforcement. Media bias and public ambivalence threaten to roll back gains made over the last few years.
Experience and research conducted by ASA show that sensible regulations reduce crime and complaints around medical cannabis, while preserving safe access for patients. We know that the best policies are made when an educated and empowered grassroots base participates in the process. One of the goals of this eleven-city tour is to get patients and their caregivers back in front of the local, state, and federal campaign for safe access!
What can I do to adopt a new or improved local ordinance? How do we force local police to obey state law? What can be done to protect patients’ rights in employment, child custody, housing, and access to health care? Can we protect medical cannabis growers? What state regulations are going to be adopted? What about taxation? How can I assert and protect my rights? How can we finally change federal law?
Join us between August 19 and September 1 to ask and answer these questions!
